Hessa Al Ajmani (previously) carefully printed a single flower, leaf and leaf on her ceramic tableware. After making a work by hand, the artist assembled bunches of small plants native to the United Arab Emirates, pressed them into layered bouquets, and placed them on cups, plates, and tableware. Al Ajmani then painted impressions to mimic the original flowers she purchased from the nearby desert and occasionally from her mother's garden, depending on the climate and the time of year. "My job naturally requires the whole season to prepare and/or rely on the occasional winter rains," she said. "I let it grow organically and see it as a collaboration with nature. After all, clay itself is a material of the earth."

In addition to creating a series of functional works, Al Ajmani also teaches virtual and face-to-face workshops at the Clay Corner Studio she founded in Ajman in 2019. Follow her on Instagram to keep an eye on new products in her store.
